News from Old Man's Cave Chalets

Our Updates Continue!  We strive to provide YOU...our valued customers with the best accommodations possible and continue improving and updating our Cabins and Lodges!  Sometime in January, we expect to complete our newest Romantic Retreat..... Couples Paradise II.   The Fallswood Lodge has New Paint, New Dining and Kitchen Tablecloths & New Chair Seats.  June 1st, the Dogwood will have a new game room with Pool Table, Mini Bar and Flatscreen TV.  We are in the development stages of adding Saunas to a select few of our cabins and expect to have them in place, Summer 2010. We have placed New Dining Chairs and two flat screen TV's in the Fireside Lodge;(new photos of Fireside on our  website). The Settler has new draperies,quilts and shams!  Coming soon, the Pine Creek will have new appliances, and a Flat Screen TV.  In January, we will replace our existing linens with all new sheets, pillow cases, wash cloths,bath towels and bath mats. We would like to announce the opening of our new laundry,  Resort Laundry Services. 

Hocking Hills News and Events

Audubon Winter Bird Count - Saturday, January 2nd - Time: 7:00 am - 3:00 pm.  Attention all birders!  Contact the naturalist at 740-385-8003 x213 if you would like to help out with our annual winter bird count.   The final tally will be at 3:00 pm at Crane Hollow (near Conkle's Hollow).  Bring a lunch and your binoculars and come dressed for the weather. Cost: Free

Pre-Winter Hike Talk - Friday, January 15 - Come and warm up by the fire at the Hocking Hills Dining Lodge lounge starting at 6:00 p.m., for a pre-hike talk and the 9th annual "Winter Hike Game". Refreshments available. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Cost: Free

Hocking Hills Winter Hike - Saturday, January 16 - Continuous starts from 9-11 a.m. Enjoy winter's splendor on this historic 6-mile trek from Old Man's Cave to Ash Cave.  Layered clothing and good footwear recommended.  Bean soup and hot chocolate available at Cedar Falls for a donation.  A shuttle bus returns hikers to Old Man's Cave. Cost: Free.

Arrival of Winter Photography Workshop - Saturday, January 23rd, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Hands on photography workshop that provides practical and usable knowledge in nature photography.  Workshops are held in the Hocking Hills State Park areas.  Lunch is provided. Four hour workshops by appointment.  Cost: $129. per person. Reservations & Registration required. 740-380-2039.

Santa visits Nancy & Jim Rawlins Grandchildren

Doug Hockman, Operations Manager here at OMCC,  played Santa to the  "darling" grandchildren of Nancy & Jim Rawlins, of Orient, Ohio. Mr. & Mrs. Rawlins along with their adult children and grandchildren take annual trips in lieu of gifts. "Nothing else matters besides family," Mrs. Rawlins said.  "When you can take your family on a trip together, that's a great blessing."  Mr. & Mrs. Rawlins, friends and family, have been coming to Old Man's Cave Chalets since 2003 and have stayed with us more than 30 times!  We not only consider them VIP's, but also good friends!  We wish to say "thank you" and may 2010 bring you a healthy and prosperous year!

OMCC Journal Letter

My husband and I got married and drove all the way to Hocking County from Wooster, OH.  We were so excited about this trip, we drove all the way here in our wedding attire!   When we arrived at the Romantic Hideaway Cabin , I thought "this is heaven" on a mountain!   The beauty, peace and serenity is awesome! This chalet was just as beautiful as the pictures I had seen of it, and so cozy.  At 8:30 pm., the Executive Chef arrived to cook us our first dinner as "husband & wife"!  The food was delicious and we would highly recommend him.  He even did the dishes!! We spent the evening sipping wine in the hot tub and snuggling on the couch watching TV.  The second day we visited Old Man's Cave and Cedar Falls.   We will always have these wonderful memories of our honeymoon at the Romantic Hideaway and we will definitely be back!  Well, it's time to pack up ....one last breakfast together here, a couple of kisses... and we're out the door.  We are so thankful for each other and the bond we created here.....this is OUR special place!  Thank you.
